It's an irresistible match worthy of a Mary Kay Andrews novel: The New York Times bestselling author of such deliciously dishy books as "Ladies Night," "Hissy Fit" and "Savannah Blues" and the wildly popular Atlanta Beltline's "Light the Line" campaign.

Andrews — the non-de-plume for Avondale Estates resident Kathy Trocheck — comes out with her 24th novel, "The Weekenders," on May 17. But fans can get a signed first edition of the book — which is all about the goings-on in a fictitious North Carolina beach town overrun by gossip and mystery — two days earlier at a festive launch party to be held at Ponce City Market.

Admission to the event, which will food, music, cocktails and other libations, is $35; a portion of all ticket sales and raffle proceeds (prizes include getaway trips, beauty makeovers and more) will go toward the ongoing effort to bring nighttime lights to the Beltline.

In January, the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership launched the campaign to raise $1.1 million for lighting on the Eastside Trail, the 2.3-mile segment that connects Piedmont Park to Krog Street Market — with Ponce City Market located almost smack in the middle. Running through trendy neighborhoods like Virgnia Highland, Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward, the Eastside Trail already is the place to see and be seen (and to run, walk and jump on and off to shop and nosh) during daylight hours; now just imagine being able to do all that at night with on a safe, well-lighted trail.

Why, it almost sounds exciting enough to be the setting for Andrews's next novel!

"The Weekenders" launch party is from 3-5 p.m. on May 15 in The Gallery, located on the second floor of Ponce City Market. To purchase tickets, go to www.foxtalebookshoppe.com or call 770-516-9989.
