If you can drink beer quickly, and would like to have a world record, this is the Saturday for you.

The National Beer Mile run comes to Turner Field this Saturday. Gates open at 11 a.m. The National Beer Mile races -- starting with elite beer milers, and descending into the friendly joggers -- will begin at 1 p.m. Don't forget to bring ID, and leave all pets, babies or anyone under 21 at home. It is, after all, a beer-centric event, which makes it an event for adults.

The National Beer Mile challenge, for the uninitiated, goes like this: 4 beers, 1 mile. It amounts to the chugging of a beer, the running of a quarter mile. Chug another beer, run another quarter mile. Then a third beer, and a third quarter mile. The final beer, the final quarter mile and a place in (National Beer Mile) history.

The limits of human endurance, the speed of consumption, the race against history —all of it will be on display at the Ted. The current world record —a time of 4:57 —was logged by James Nielsen of California and immortalized on YouTube. Those interested in attending the event can purchase an event pass from nationalbeermile.com

Those who cannot attend can also follow the action on social media by seeking out the hashtag #NatBeerMile.
