October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Atlanta is rallying to the call.

It's an ideal time to pitch in to honor breast cancer survivors and contribute to local programs and national research for the cure.

Here are five great ways to show your support in metro Atlanta this October:

9th Annual Bowling for Boobs
Squad times 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m., 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., 8:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13
$50 per bowler, teams of 4 or 6
Midtown Bowl, 1936 Piedmont Circle NE. 404- 874-5703

Bowl a 300 or mostly gutter balls?

It's all good when you put on the bowling shoes to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer in metro Atlanta. Seventy-five percent of money raised goes to breast cancer programs right here in Atlanta and the other 25 percent to national breast cancer research funding.

Fit for the Cure Events at metro Atlanta Dillards and Macy's
Wacoal's Fit for the Cure program goes to the end of October and there are still plenty of chances to get a professional bra fitting that benefits Susan G. Komen.

Here's how it works:

You go to a participating store for a complimentary bra fitting and Wacoal donates $2 per fitting, no purchase necessary. If you should buy a Wacoal bra at the event, the company donates another $2.

Have a fit for the cure at these locations:
•October 18: Dillards, Mall of Georgia (3333 Buford Drive, Buford. 678-482-5241)
•October 19: Dillards, Atlantic Station (1371 Market St. NW. 404-879-0635)

Proceeds from Atlanta-based Pink Prayer Sticks
Prayer Sticks, 9-inch ($10) or 12-inch ($12) wood stakes painted with acrylics and sealed for outdoor use, are handmade by Atlanta crafter Leigh Williams for those that appreciate simple prayer reminders. In October, they come in pink in honor of the owner's mother, who fought breast cancer for 18 years and died in 2015.

Forty percent of all sales of pink prayer sticks in October will be donated to breast cancer research. Check out their website to learn more.

Email prayersticks@gmail.com with your choices and whether you want them shipped or to arrange for local pick up in metro Atlanta.

This is a big ole' American Cancer Society walk for a hugely important cause: groundbreaking breast cancer research, life-saving education and critical patient services. It's non-competitive, so start a team or cheer one on. Survivors are asked to check in when they arrive to walk and hang out at a special survivor's area. Each cancer survivor will receive a special gift while supplies last.
