Youth Fishing Derby
Cast your line and reel in some fun this weekend. The Beach at Clayton County’s International Park invites kids ages 13 and younger to fish the upper lake all morning May 14. The lake has the fish, but you need to bring your own equipment and bait to reel them in. Prizes will be awarded to kids who catch the largest catfish and bass. The event is free, and no fishing license is required.

TeamLab Future Park
Take the kids to a different kind of play area this weekend. A Japanese digital arts collective, TeamLab, has created Future Park, a high-tech playground at the Mall of Georgia that will be open from May 14 to July 31. The techno-zone encourages children to collaborate on digital art projects in a variety of settings: The Sketch Aquarium, A Table Where Little People Live and Hopscotch for Geniuses are just a few. The idea is to have a play area that also teaches kids pattern recognition, spatial perception and teamwork. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended. Sorry, grown-ups, but no adults are admitted without children.

Garden dinner
Spring in the South isn’t complete without enjoying an outdoor dinner, and Milton’s Cuisine and Cocktails is pulling out all the stops to offer several such experiences. The night kicks off with a reception where a selection of the restaurant’s best libations will be offered. Guests are welcome to stroll the lawns and vegetable garden before sitting down amid the growing produce for a four-course community dinner accompanied by wine pairings. The sweet sound of a cellist will mix into the summer soundtrack of cicadas as everyone dines. If you can’t make this one, don’t worry: The restaurant will hold five other dinners outdoors through October.
