Tai Chi in the Park
After a long time sitting in front of a computer screen or behind the wheel of a car, consider going outside to shape up. If the idea of lacing up the running shoes doesn’t sound appealing, check out the first of Kennesaw’s free outdoor workouts in Swift-Cantrell Park. The city will hold a free tai chi class April 30 as part of its Fit City initiative. Led by instructor Sachi Hirata, the class will last about an hour. Wear comfortable clothes and bring enough water to stay hydrated. Additional classes in karate, yoga, taekwondo and power walking are scheduled for May and June. All sessions are weather-permitting.

Spring Art Fest
Celebrate the creative talents of McDonough’s finest artists at this year’s Spring Art Fest, taking place on the town square. Stroll through the artist market, where goods from a variety of crafters, painters, illustrators and other virtuosos will be available for purchase. Enjoy the sounds of live music as you stroll, check out the chalk art display, or join one of the games of chess happening throughout the day. A plein air painting competition is open to artists of all ages; registration is $35. Food and home-baked goods will be available.

Cars & ’Q for the Cause
Choate Construction will hold its seventh annual afternoon of cool cars, delicious barbeque and live music at the firm’s headquarters in Sandy Springs. Browse the displays of more than 100 classic and exotic autos while noshing on food from Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Cool off with a few of the brews on tap from Lagunitas, the Unknown Brewery Co. and Wild Heaven Craft Beer while taking in the sweet sounds of musician Don McB. Proceeds from the event support the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
