Hiking and Paddling
Chattahoochee Bend State Park has a lot to offer, and this is your chance to check it out from a different perspective. Rangers at “the Bend” invite the public to take in the serene beauty both on land and in the water. The day begins with a 5.5-mile hike along the river trail to the boat launch area. A light lunch awaits, along with a short instruction session, and then it’s time to paddle down the river. Boats can be rented, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. The outing is expected to last until 2 p.m. Advance registration is highly recommended, and there is a $5 parking fee. Suitable for those 10 years and older.

Touch-a-Truck
Tell your tyke to put the Tonka trucks aside — it’s time to touch the real thing. The city of Kennesaw is giving both young and old the chance to check out more than 40 construction vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, cool cars and public safety equipment — all things that might make your kid say, “Whoaaaaa!” And there’s more to it than just seeing: The public is invited to touch and climb on the hulking machines, and to interact with the people responsible for operating them. Food and beverages will be sold. The event takes place rain or shine.

Meet Betsey Johnson
Cartwheel over to Dillard’s at Mall of Georgia to meet designer Betsey Johnson. The fashion icon, known for her unique designs and lifestyle brand, will be at the store for an event featuring blogger and TV personality Micah Jesse as host. Attendees can snag VIP access by purchasing a full-priced Betsey Johnson item at $50 or more from Dillard’s. The pass also comes with a complimentary tote bag and the chance to have a photo taken with Johnson.
