Junior Knight Training
If your kids are fascinated by swords and shields, sign them up for an evening that lets them learn techniques with their favorite toys. Doors to Medieval Times Junior Knight Training open at 6:30 p.m., and the first 80 kids ages 5 through 12 will have the chance to learn all about being a knight. They’ll watch expert-level sword (play) fights and test their own skills during an interactive weapons tutorial. King Carlos will greet the new knights and anoint them before the show. The training operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Note: Closed-toe shoes must be worn!

“Confederate Sharp Shooter” book signing
Acworth Bookstore enlists the help of author Joseph P. Byrd IV to bring the past to life by reading it through the eyes of one soldier. Byrd recently penned the nonfiction book “Confederate Sharp Shooter: Major William E. Simmons,” which follows the life of a Confederate officer from boyhood to battlefront. Byrd takes the reader through battles at Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg and Cold Harbor, complete with maps, letters and photographs. He’ll also sign books and discuss the life of Simmons during the afternoon.

ALPHARETTA
Polo match
See something different Sunday by taking a trip to Chukkar Farm and watching a polo match. Weather and event schedule permitting, the farm holds weekly matches that are open to the public. Guests are invited to bring blankets, food and drink to enjoy while they watch. Colorful commentary will complement the match, so even if it’s your first, you can follow along. Take the kids, too: There’s a playground and a farm they can check out. Due to the heat, this match will start at 11 a.m., earlier than the rest of the year.
