ATLANTA
“A Conversation Between Malcolm X and President Obama”
Imagine being in the same room while President Barack Obama and Malcolm X discuss critical issues of their times. What would surely have been a fascinating conversation has been imagined and put into words by Buckhead playwright-author Jacqueline Clay Chester. “A Conversation Between Malcolm X and President Obama: A One Act Play,” was previewed in July at the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs. Now, Chester is staging two public performances at the Garden Hills community center. The two-hour play stars James Womack as Malcolm X and John Doyle as the president.
7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 and 22. $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Garden Hills Community Center, 339 Pine Tree Drive, Atlanta. 678-427-3882, eventbrite.com.

“Mary Poppins”
There’s a change in the wind, and it’s bringing “Mary Poppins,” the musical, to town. The winner of seven Tony awards will leave you humming familiar standards such as “A Spoonful of Sugar” and “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.” Extra brownie points if you can rattle off “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” backward. Tickets may be purchased online or by phone.
