LAWRENCEVILLE

“The 12 Dates of Christmas”

The holiday season can conjure up images of cuddling by the fire with that special loved one. But, what if you haven’t found that someone yet? Or, what if you have — and you’ve just seen that person at the Macy’s tree lighting on TV, making out with someone else? That’s the premise of this hilarious one-woman comedy. Actress Renita James holds the stage to tell the story of Mary, who, after dumping the two-timing fiancé, is flung back into the dating scene just as the mistletoe makes an appearance. Laugh along as she navigates a world of awful admirers and miserable meet-ups amid holiday frivolity. While often sidesplitting, this show and its adult language may not be suitable for younger audiences.

8 p.m. Dec. 2; 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3. $15-$20. Aurora Theatre, 128 E. Pike St., Lawrenceville. 678-226-6222, auroratheatre.com.

ATLANTA

Reindog Parade

Santa needs a few powerful pups to pull his sleigh! Come see them on parade at this year’s Reindog Parade at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in Midtown. Dress up your furry friends in their best reindeer get-ups, and feel free to break out that holiday sweater for yourself. Take a few pictures with Santa and connect with other dog lovers. You don’t need to be a pet owner to enjoy the cute canines and the garden’s holiday setting, but if you are bringing your four-footed pals, please note that there’s a two-pup-per-person limit. Registration for parade participants is $15 in advance or $18 for walk-ups.

11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 3. Free parade entry with garden admission for people; $15-$18 per dog in the parade. Atlanta Botanical Garden, 1345 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta. 404-876-5859, atlantabg.org.

SENOIA

Light Up Senoia

Yes, it’s blood-and-guts zombie central for most of the year (thanks to filming of “The Walking Dead”), but, during the Yuletide, Senoia also shines as one of the state’s quaintest towns. The event that kicks off the season is a parade of lights and the lighting of the town’s tree. Stick around for family entertainment and tasty local eats. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be in town to pose for photos, hear holiday requests and welcome visitors into their pop-up workshop. The festivities start at 4 p.m., and the parade begins 90 minutes later.

4-8 p.m. Dec. 3. Free. Downtown Senoia, 68 Main St., Senoia. 770-727-9173, enjoysenoia.net.
