Get ready to drink up and chill out at the sixth annual Brookhaven Beer Fest Saturday, June 11.

With more than 40 beer and wine booths (boasting 200 beers and wines) to stop by and two dozen food vendors to keep your stomach settled, you can spend this Saturday sampling 200 different varieties of beer and wine along Apple Valley Road. As you peruse the tents and pick your poison, the likes of DJ Rock Most, Funk You, and Heather Luttrell and the Possumden will keep the energy high with everything from coffee shop indie sounds to saxophone-laced funk.

Better yet, enjoy the booze and live music while helping homeless pets. The event is benefitting Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, a nonprofit organization "dedicated to saving dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in north Georgia," according to its website.

Last year, more than 3,500 people attended the festival.

"It's a great community event, but we also have people from all over Atlanta come," Adam Cohen, the director of operations, said. "We have the largest selection of beers and wines of any beer fest in Atlanta."

The festival runs 3-8 p.m. on Apple Valley Road behind the Brookhaven MARTA station. Tickets are $45 and cover admission to the festival and beer and wine samples. Anyone looking to enjoy everything the festival has to offer must be 21 years of age. No children, pets or chairs allowed.
