John Gatins, the screenwriter of "Flight," for which Denzel Washington earned a best-actor Oscar nod, has another Georgia movie on the docket.

This time, the movie is "Need for Speed," starring Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad"), Rami Malek ("Night at the Museum") and Michael Keaton. The plot, as listed on imdb.com: "Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross-country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins."

We're hearing that filming locations will include Macon. It cranks up in late April, continuing through June. The screenwriting team includes Gatins, his brother George Gatins and George Nolfi.

We interviewed John Gatins as "Flight," the dark drama starring Washington as an alcoholic pilot and John Goodman as his wisecracking drug dealer buddy, was released in theaters last year. That movie originally had been set in Oklahoma, but Gatins switched locations because metro Atlanta had both the urban and rural settings his script called for (plus the world's busiest airport). Not to mention the state's tax credits for filming projects.

“Georgia is so film-friendly right now, ” Gatins said at the time.

Still is!

Tyler Perry, Kim Kardashian to team up this weekend

Depending on your appetite for crowds and reality stars, you'll want to either make a beeline for the AMC Parkway Pointe theater on Cobb Parkway this Saturday or steer clear. Tyler Perry plans a red carpet screening for his new movie, "Tyler Perry's Temptation," there Saturday evening. Celebs scheduled to appear include Perry, the film's writer/director, and cast members Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Lance Gross, Robbie Jones, Renee Taylor and Ella Joyce. Kim Kardashian, who was cast in a minor yet headline-grabbing role, also is supposed to be there, although a number of recent reports indicate that the mother-to-be has been ordered by doctors to rest. We'll see if her health permits her to attend.

The red carpet arrivals are scheduled to show up beginning at 5:30 p.m., and an invite-only screening starts at 6:30 p.m. Fans will be able to view the red carpet festivities, and a handful will be selected to view the screening. The movie opens in theaters March 29.
