His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama is back to Emory University campus in his role as Presidential Distinguished Professor for a three-day visit Sunday, October 17, 2010. The Dalai Lama discuss the progression of the Emory-Tibet Partnership, including the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative with members of the media during a press conference.

His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama is back to Emory University campus in his role as Presidential Distinguished Professor for a three-day visit speaks to a packed audience at the Woodruff P.E. Center Sunday, October 17, 2010. His Holiness talks about the essential role of compassion in the flourishing of human life including leading an interfaith summit on happiness: understanding and promoting happiness in today's society with a public conversation with other world religious leaders and scholars.

The Dalai Lama discussed the progression of the Emory-Tibet Partnership, including the Emory-Tibet Science Initiative with members of the media during a press conference. The ETSI, established by Emory and the Tibetan monastic academic system at the request of the Dalai Lama, is currently in the third year of a five-year pilot program. The purpose is to extablished a science curriculum for monks and nuns in major monosteries throughout India.

The Dalai Lama is presented with four new English/Tibetan science textbooks by Emory President James Wagner. At right is Geshe Thupten Jinpa, translator for the Dalai Lama. Before 7 a.m., visitors are seen waiting in line to enter Woodruff P.E. Center to listen to the Dalai Lama talks about the nature of compassion and the practices for cultivating it as understood in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
