Borders at Stonecrest Mall hosted former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice's book signing on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010. Rice served in two roles under President George W. Bush - as national security advisor and as secretary of state.

A line estimated at 1,000 people waited to have their books signed.

Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice signs a copy of her new book "Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family." The memoir presents a young woman deeply attached to her devoted parents, who encouraged her at every step of her life to overcome racism, sexism, and her own personal doubts.

Condoleeza Rice was born in Birmingham, Alabama the only child of Angelena Ray Rice, a high school science, music and oratory teacher, and John Wesley Rice, Jr., a high school guidance counselor and Presbyterian minister.

Condoleeza Rice is an accomplished pianist and has performed in public since she was a young girl. At the age of 15, she played Mozart with the Denver Symphony, and to this day she plays regularly with a chamber music group in Washington.

Condoleezza Rice was the 66th United States Secretary of State - only the second woman, and first black woman ever, to hold the office.
