Sixty tons of sand are heading to downtown Decatur this month for the popular Decatur Beach Party and you're invited.

After a one-year hiatus, the annual event put on by the Decatur Business Association (DBA) is back in time to kick off summer 2016 from 5-11 p.m. Friday, June 17.

Party it up with games, live music, dancing, food trucks, cold drinks and, of course, plenty of sand for you sandcastle-building aficionados.

New this year, according to the event website, is the Ninja Climbing Wall for ages 13 and older.

Tray Dahl & the Jugtime Ragband will open for the headliner, Electric Avenue, for the party on the plaza.

According to the event website, tickets for attendees ages 13 and up are $12 in advance at freshtix.com or at local Decatur retail shops and $15 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 4-12 are $7 in advance and $10 at the gate. Children ages 3 and under enter free.

Proceeds from the DBA's annual fundraiser help fund other free community events. For more information about the event, visit the Decatur Beach Party Facebook event or the DBA website.
