This Christmas, plenty of families can use a helping hand. Here's a list of organizations offering volunteer opportunities for individuals and families who would like to add a little more cheer for those in need this season.

Furkids is one of the only animal rescue groups in Georgia that encourages kids to participate in their volunteer projects. This season, among other opportunities, they are seeking young volunteers to help pet owners stage their pets with Santa for a Christmas keepsake photo. Adult volunteers are also needed: someone has to wear the Santa costume! This event takes place at select Furkids adoption centers in metro Atlanta. Learn more.

Your family can help kids in need by organizing your own toy drive. You can drop off the toys at a variety of convenient locations. Help is also needed for sorting and packaging the collected items. Learn more.
Many families enjoy volunteering at this traditional Atlanta event, where up to 2,000 families will have access to a hot dinner, haircuts and hair styling, clothing, medical services and more. Volunteers will also deliver over 4,000 meals to senior citizens, the disabled, and those without transportation. The event takes place at the Georgia World Congress Center. Hosea’s Children’s Christmas Party
This event provides holiday support for low income families with children by hosting a Christmas Party with food, entertainment and toys. The event serves over 1,000 children each year. The Adopt-a-Family program by Families First allows volunteers to fulfill family wish lists for the Christmas holiday. View their profiles and select a family in need.
