You've been checking your calendar, and there are few openings for fun this October. Here are some under-the-radar events you should consider penciling in.
Red Clay Comedy Festival (Oct. 15-17): Fifty comedians will take the stage at venues across metro Atlanta as part of more than 25 shows.
Kickstarter Film Festival (Oct. 15): On one night only, 32 theaters across the country will screen films, many of them funded through Kickstarter. In Atlanta, the Plaza Theatre will host screenings.
Wire & Wood Alpharetta Songwriters Festival (Oct. 15-17): You can go to a concert to see musicians play their music, or you can attend the Songwriters Festival to hear stories behind the songs along with performances from some of the industry's brightest stars.
Barbecue at The Music Room (Saturdays): Pitmaster Mike LaSage will bring Bone Lick BBQ to the Old Fourth Ward as a pop-up inside The Music Room beginning at 8 p.m. each Saturday.
Dunwoody Apple Cider Days (Oct. 21-25): Enjoy a day at the fair this month when Apple Cider Days sets up at Perimeter Mall. The event features carnival rides, games, hot cider and plenty of festival food.
Atlanta Eats Live! (Oct. 24): Forget about your diet for the day and head to Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, where 45 Atlanta area restaurants will serve up their best grub. After you're full, stick around for a live concert performance.
Halloween-Themed Chefs Tasting at The Cockentrice (Oct. 31): Tired of the typical Halloween party? Instead, enjoy a five-course, Halloween-themed tasting at The Cockentrice. The event is $45 per person and $25 per person for beverage pairing, plus tax and gratuity.
American Field Pop-Up at Ponce CIty Market (Oct. 31-Nov. 1): Interactive demonstrations and handcrafted products by American vendors will be on display when American Field arrives at Atlanta's new mixed-use development.
