Zombies attack Atlanta Motor Speedway

Dozens of zombies were on the loose in Atlanta over the weekend. Find out what they were doing.

Zombies!

Zombies were on the loose at the Atlanta Motor Speedway over the weekend.

Hundreds of runners participated in the Zombie Run.

The runners, many dressed in costume, took to the roads and parking lots around the speedway...

as the zombies tried to hunt them down.

The runners, or in this case zombie slayer, had balloons tied around them and the people dressed like zombies tried to pop them on the 5K course.

Organizers described it as a 3.1 mile racecourse of gut-wrenching, blood-pumping, sweat-dripping fear.

It proved to be plenty of fun for some of the runners, too.

The Zombie Run benefits Active Heroes, a volunteer-led charity helping veterans, active duty military and their families. A portion of proceeds from the Atlanta event benefited the local chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, which cares for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in order to help them lead productive lives.
