A well-known local hip-hop artist has been charged with driving drunk with little children in his car, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Deongelo Marquel "Deroc" Holmes, a member of the Ying Yang Twins, was pulled over by Gwinnett County police June 1 after he was seen allegedly swerving as he drove an SUV on Old Norcross Road near Herrington Road in the Lawrenceville area.
An officer "saw it weave, basically. He crossed the center line several times," Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith told Channel 2. When police spoke to Holmes, Smith said, the officer "smelled alcohol. He smelled marijuana when the driver rolled down the window."
Police said they found in the vehicle marijuana, Xanex and a 3-year-old toddler and 2-month-old baby in car seats in the rear.
The 33-year-old Holmes was charged with seven offenses: Two counts of DUI child endangerment; and one count each of DUI, violating the Georgia controlled substances act, possession of drug-related objects, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and improper/erratic lane change, according to Gwinnett County Detention Center records.
Holmes, of Buford, was booked into the Gwinnett jail and was released later that day on bonds totaling $13,500, jail records show.
Channel 2's attempts to reach him by phone Thursday were unsuccessful.
It was Holmes' third DUI arrest in Gwinnett County, Channel 2 reported.
