From Batman to Rocketman. Tom Hardy will play Elton John in a new biopic about the iconic singer.
Hardy is perhaps best known for playing the villainous Bane in “The Dark Knight Rises,” and seems he won’t just be a candle in the wind in the movie business.
The movie is actually called "Rocketman," and one of its executive producers said in a release, via Variety ...
“ ... he has proven his ability to transform himself completely into the character or subject found in the material ... We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton.”
And Sir Elton is involved too — Elton John will be re-recording many of his most famous songs for the movie. It will follow the 66-year-old's life story from childhood on. (Via EltonJohnVEVO)
It's a lot to tackle, but the screenwriter behind it, wrote the critically acclaimed "War Horse," and is an Academy Award nominee. (Via ABC)
The movie has been in the works since 2011 and will start filming next fall.
