Legendary singer Tina Turner revealed in her new autobiography that she received a kidney transplant.
Turner, 78, said that by 2016, her kidney disease had progressed to the point that her kidneys were failing, in an excerpt from "Tina Turner: My Love Story," reviewed by The Associated Press.
Her husband, Erwin Bach, offered Turner one of his kidneys. Turner said she was "shocked" and "overwhelmed" by the offer.
The couple married in 2013 after having a long-term relationship, The Associated Press reported.
Turner is encouraging others to sign up to be organ donors.
