MARIAH GETS AN APOLOGY: A decade after leaving Sony Music Entertainment, Tommy Mottola tells his story in a new book, "Hitmaker: The Man and His Music." He apologizes for the fallout from his marriage to Mariah Carey. In the book Mottola writes it was "absolutely wrong and inappropriate" to become involved with Carey. He writes he's "truly sorry for any discomfort or pain that all of my good intentions inevitably caused her, and most of all for the scars it left on my two oldest children" from his first marriage.

BRIGHT STARS AT IMAGE AWARDS: Stars gathered at the NAACP Image Awards to celebrate work by minorities in film and television.

'WILD THING' NO MORE: Rock star Reg Presley, lead singer of the Troggs on hit songs including "Wild Thing," has died. He died at 71 after a year-long bout with lung cancer.

'ARGO' CONTINUES ITS QUEST FOR WORLD DOMINATION: Ben Affleck won the top film honor from the Directors Guild of America for his CIA thriller "Argo," further sealing its status as best-picture front-runner at the Academy Awards.

'WARM BODIES' HEATS UP THE BOX OFFICE: The love-struck zombies of "Warm Bodies" swarmed the box office on Super Bowl weekend with a $20 million opening. On a weekend that Hollywood largely punts to football, the PG-13 film from Lionsgate's Summit Entertainment easily led the box office, according to studio estimates.

ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER CHRIS BROWN DRAMA: Prosecutors are seeking probation revocation for Chris Brown because they say they could not find credible evidence that Brown completed his community labor sentence stemming from the 2009 beating of his girlfriend Rihanna. Also this week, Brown got into a fight with singer Frank Ocean over a parking space.

ALL HAIL THE QUEEN ON YOUR COMPUTER: Queen Latifah's production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, has signed a deal with Netflix. The entertainer announced that the multiyear deal gives the streaming service first look at titles from her production company. Latifah launched Flavor Unit in New Jersey with Shakim Compere. It's now based in Miami.

A SCARE FOR RON: Adult film star Ron Jeremy is recovering from surgery at a Los Angeles hospital after an aneurysm near his heart sent him to intensive care.

THE PICS DON'T LIE: Shakira is sharing the first public photograph of her recently born baby, with father Gerard Pique planting a kiss on his infant son's cheek. The 36-year-old Colombian singer announced on Twitter that the photo of "my two angels" could be seen on the website of UNICEF. She has urged people to donate to a baby shower on behalf of needy children helped by the U.N. children's agency.

BABS MAKES A COMEBACK (SOON): Barbara Walters, who has been battling the Chicken Pox, announced she will not return to her daytime talk show "The View," for three more weeks. She was hospitalized on Jan. 19 after fainting and cutting her head at a pre-inaugural party in Washington.

THE MAN HAS BEEN IN ENOUGH MOB MOVIES THAT YOU'D THINK THEY'D KNOW NOT TO MESS WITH HIM BY NOW: Joe Pesci has settled a lawsuit filed against a company planning a biopic on the Gotti crime family. The Oscar-winner sued Fiore Films in July 2011 claiming the filmmakers reneged on a deal for a $3 million role in the film and were offering him a lesser part in the project and a lower payday.

SOMEWHERE, SEACREST WEEPS: The top show on TV for nearly its entire run, "Idol' is now an also-ran head to head vs. "The Big Bang Theory." The CBS sitcom demolished 'Idol" in the ratings last night, 17.5 million to 13.7 million. It also beat "Idol" in 18-49 ratings 5.3 to 4.5.

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE, TONI: Singer Toni Braxton admitted in an interview that she regretted not getting in touch with her "inner slut" earlier in her career.

LIL WAYNE, NOT AN "AMERICAN IDOL" FAN? SHOCKING: "American Idol" picked Nicki Minaj as a judge to draw in viewers, but she's actually discouraged at least one person from watching it — her mentor, Lil Wayne. The rap star admitted that he has yet to see "Idol" this season — or any other season. Part of the reason he hasn't tuned in to see Minaj is because she didn't exactly sell the show to Lil Wayne. "When I talk to her she's always tells me, 'You don't wanna watch that, you're not going to be into it,'" he said.

BEY'S BUSY WEEK: Beyonce started the week off by admitting she sang the national anthem to a pre-recorded track during the presidential inauguration. Then, she sang the song a capella during a press conference. She have a buzz-worthy performance during the Super Bowl halftime show, including squeezing in a reunion with fellow Destiny's Child members, then announced her new international tour, The Mrs. Carter show, and finally batted off complaints from PETA about her leather Super Bowl costume. Phew.

HE BROUGHT SEXY BACK -- FOR ONE NIGHT, AT LEAST: Justin Timberlake gave his first performance in nearly five years — a sizzling, hour-long concert that featured the nattily dressed entertainer with a more than 10-piece band and guest appearances by Timbaland and Jay-Z, who's prominently featured on Timberlake's comeback single, "Suit and Tie."

THE RHYTHM IS GOING TO GET THEATERGOERS, WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT: Singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan are hoping to develop a stage musical about their lives. The duo announced that they've also teamed up with the Nederlander Organization to try to take the show to Broadway.

A LITTLE LESS SKETTI FOR MAMA JUNE: The mother of Georgia's Honey Boo Boo tells TMZ that her busy recording schedule is to credit for her drop from 365 to 263 pounds. "I haven't done any surgeries, no diet pills, never went to the gym," Shannon told TMZ. "With the show I've been more active.
