The premiere of "Farrah's Story"

Ryan O'Neal and producer Alana Stewart premiered the NBC documentary "Farrah's Story" on Wednesday, May 13 in Beverly Hills, Calif. The feature-length documentary chronicles Farrah Fawcett's two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. It will broadcast 9-11 p.m. Friday, May 15.

Ryan O'Neal was Farrah Fawcett's companion throughout the 1980s and '90s. The couple broke up in the late 1990s but O'Neal has stayed by her side during her battle with cancer. They have a 24-year-old son, Redmond, who has been in the news for drug infractions.

Actress Melanie Griffith was also on hand at the premiere. The documentary unsparingly follows Fawcett as she faces pain, setbacks and, as the treatments grow harsher, the loss of her trademark lush blond locks.

Actor Paul Le Mat, who co-starred with Farrah Fawcett in the 1984 film "The Burning Bed," arrives for the world premiere screening of "Farrah's Story." "The Burning Bed" marked a turn in Fawcett's career, establishing her as a more serious actress.

Ryan O'Neal, seen here with Fawcett in 1990, says that he will watch the Friday broadcast along with Fawcett. "Farrah's Story" started out as a personal record, intended as a "success story" for family viewing, O'Neal said, and to keep track of her treatment.

Fawcett, seen here in 2006, says in the documentary that "I do not want to die of this disease. So I say to God, 'It is seriously time for a miracle.' "
