The "Diana: A Celebration" exhibit in Atlanta

"Diana: A Celebration" will open Jan. 23 and run through June 13th at the Atlanta Civic Center. The exhibition includes a series of 150 objects that chronicle Princess Diana's life. Here are some of the highlights to expect when you visit.

CHILDHOOD PASSPORT: Diana, the 'people's princess', was known for traveling extensively. Included among the many items from Diana's childhood is her passport from 1968. The two photographs featured were taken by her father, who made a point to shoot pictures of his children after bath time when they were superclean.

THE GOWN: The dress is made of silk taffeta, ivory tulle and lace. It has become one of the most famous outfits in the world, though it was designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, relatively unknown at the time.

The veil and the dress were hand embroidered with mother-of-pearl sequins and pearls.

The now famous 25-foot train of Princess Diana's wedding gown is the longest in royal history.

DRESS GALLERY: Diana never wanted her claim to fame to be her clothing, yet she had a healthy love of fashion and recognized that dressing well was part of her public duty. The dress gallery includes a Catherine Walker cocktail dress from 1991 that Diana wore to the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow in June 1995 and a purple silk crepe evening dress by Gianni Versace that she wore to a gala dinner in Chicago in June 1996.

The dress gallery includes more than 28 dresses, suits and evening gowns worn by the Princess during her public life.

CHANEL SUIT: This Karl Lagerfeld suit designed for Chanel features a body-conscious silhouette. The princess wore the wool and cotton mix tweed suit from the 1997 Spring/Summer Collection on several occasions, but perhaps most memorably at Prince William's confirmation in March 1997. She paired the suit with a wool boucle pillbox hat by Philip Somerville that was inspired by the late Jackie Kennedy.

The exhibit also showcases Princess Diana's humanitarian work.

TIARA: No princess is complete without her tiara. This gold Spencer Tiara features scrolling foliage with tulip and star shaped flowers decorated with diamonds in silver settings. It is believed to have been made in 1767, though the style suggests a date more like 1830. The tiara was remounted in the 20th century.

Another tiara features diamond, silver and gold.

RIVIERE NECKLACE: Being a royal means having jewels galore. This necklace features three pearls in diamond mounts and two diamond drops that come from a pair of earrings. Every diamond on this necklace is detachable and part of the necklace can be made into a bracelet.
