Kelly Ripa's co-host, who announced April 19he will be leaving their show to join "Good Morning America," initially announced that he would stick around until September, but all of that has changed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Strahan's official last day has been bumped up to May 13.

Executives of the ABC show decided to move his last day up in order to give themselves enough time to find a suitable replacement by cycling in guest co-hosts.

Strahan will also have the summer to adjust to his new early-morning schedule and get plenty of rest before joining "GMA."

When Strahan took over for Regis Philbin in 2012, he had guest-hosted several times before he was given the seat full time.

It's likely the producers will test out several potential replacements before announcing who will take over, in the same manner they placed Strahan.

The news comes just a few hours after Ripa made her comeback from a brief hiatus from the show and pre-planned anniversary vacation with her husband, Mark Consuelos.
