THE CAST of the 1970s British comedy show "Fawlty Towers" reunited in London for the show's 30th anniversary and the launch of two documentaries about the short-lived comedy series.

THE ORIGINAL cast included (clockwise from top) John Cleese, Andrew Sachs, Connie Booth and Prunella Scales.

THE SHOW centered around Fawlty Towers, a hotel in Torquay, England, run by the bungling but rude and arrogant Basil (Cleese) and Sybil (Scales) Fawlty.

CLEESE'S PORTRAYAL of Basil Fawlty includes sight gags, strenuous physical comedy, lots of misunderstandings and often the refusal to admit to his domineering wife that he's wrong. The show is regarded as a comedy classic.

BOOTH AND Cleese co-wrote all 12 episodes of the show. They were also married 1968-78.

BOOTH PLAYED hotel maid Polly, who frequently tried to clean up Basil's messes, but eventually retired from acting to become a psychotherapist.

SCALES (LEFT) played the perfectly coiffed Sybil Fawlty, and Andrew Sachs (right) played an adorably inept Spanish waiter, Manuel.

COMEDY TROUPE Monty Python launches its TV show, "Monty Python's Flying Circus," in Britain.

JOHN CLEESE (pictured in 1987) has said that he looks back at some of his "Fawlty Towers" and "Monty Python" sketches and thinks they're not funny. They make him cringe.
