Supernanny' arrives in Marietta

Frost rides up in a black 'Supernanny' London taxi. On Wednesday, the 'Supernanny' production crew of 20 spent the day staging shots of Frost coming and going from the home, scenes that will appear as if they happened over a span of several days on the show.

Frost gabs with director Tommy Coriale, who has worked on a half-dozen episodes. For the past four years, Frost has been on the road 48 weeks a year, splitting time between the United States edition and the British version of 'Supernanny.' She has been in 39 states, and this is her second trip to metro Atlanta.

Chris Schutz, the crane operator, said he does 150 projects a year, including VH1's 'Flavor of Love' and the CBS drama 'Numb3rs.'

The production staff of 20 scattered props on the family lawn, including a pink kid's bike and a basketball net. As Frost walked up to the door, director G.T. Taylor (who has done such shows as 'Tempation Island' and 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition') spontaneously asked her to grab a basketball and take a shot. On camera, Frost got it in in one take. 'Genius!' Taylor exclaimed afterward.

Frost lives around cameras and inspects the one attached to the crane during a break. Frost says she sometimes has to spend as much time counseling the spouses about their issues as she does about the children's problems.

Frost said she works so much, she hasn't had time for much of a social life. She would like kids at some point herself. 'I'd have to be Houdini right now, though!' she said, with a laugh. 'It's hard for me to commit right now being on the road every two weeks.'

She hangs out with makeup/clothing expert Tim Alan during her downtime. Frost says she's so busy taping shows, she never has time to actually watch the show itself. So far, 59 episodes of 'Supernanny' have aired in the United States, 42 in the U.K.

Frost gabs with coordinator Katie Greene, who handles logistics for the shoot, about Katie's upcoming 27th birthday. Frost has a new book coming out May 6 focused on advice for parents of infants called 'Jo Frost's Confident Baby Care: What You Need to Know for the First Year from America's Most Trusted Nanny.

Frost checks with the directors about where to stand as she 'knocks' on the door for her first day at work with the family. The shots you'll see on camera from the outside are not done at the same time as the filming inside the home. This is a way to save costs and not have to drag the cameras outside every time she comes and goes.

Things remain sunny for ABC's 'Supernanny,' which averages 7 million to 8 million viewers a week. The network recently granted the reality show a fifth season.
