Actor and comedian Sinbad entertained a good-sized crowd Saturday night at the Cobb Energy Centre, in spite of earlier snow and the threat of icy weather.

David Adkins, better known by his stage name of Sinbad, was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., in 1956. He attended the University of Denver between 1974 and 1978, where he lettered two seasons on the basketball team.

Sinbad began his career on Ed McMahon's 'Star Search' in 1983. He appeared seven times and won his round against fellow comedian Dennis Miller. He lost to comedian and Crypt Keeper voice, John Kassir, in the final round.

Sinbad jokes with the crowd about the small amount of snow Saturday and how Atlantans over-react to winter weather.

Sinbad toured with the Air Force Tops in Blue program, which is a program of active duty Air Force members who perform shows around the world.

The 6-foot-5 entertainer has appeared in numerous television shows including 'The Redd Foxx Show,' 'A Different World, ' 'The Cosby Show, ' 'Saturday Night Live, ' 'Apollo,' 'Soul Train,' 'Celebrity Jeopardy, 'and was the emcee for the 2000 Miss Universe Pageant.

Sinbad's film credits include 'Houseguest,' 'First Kid,' 'Jingle All the Way,' 'Necessary Roughness.' and 'Jingle All the Way.'
