Celebrating America's Love Affair With The Automobile: Showcasing over 300 of America's finest cars in downtown Tacoma, the world famous LeMay Car Museum gears up for its one-year anniversary.

The LeMay Auto Museum in Tacoma is heavily touted as one of the most amazing car museums in America - if not the entire world.

The nine-acre facility showcases over 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles from private owners, corporations and the LeMay collection - a collection that set a Guinness Book record of more than 3,500 vehicles in the mid-‘90s.

Many recognize the "LeMay" name from the countless garbage cans that have lined the streets of Tacoma, WA. However Harold E. LeMay's biggest impact to the city may have come from the automobile collection that he spent 40 years collecting.

The museum writes, "Harold bought cars for their historical, cultural and aesthetic value rather than as an investment. He once said, 'I don't go for just the dollar value car. If it's unusual, I like it. So I'm kind of a maverick, since I'm not a dyed-in-the-wood Chevy, Ford or Duesenberg man. I see it, I like it, I buy it.'"

And from that legacy has come one of the world's most celebrated car museums.

The museum opened in June of 2012 and is gearing up for its one-year anniversary.
