Before Chris Brown allegedly beat Rihanna on Feb. 8 , 2009, the couple performed together in December of last year. It may be the last time they performed together publicly.

The troubles between singers Rihanna and Chris Brown have dominated reports about them since he allegedly attacked her on Feb. 8, 2009. At the Z100's Jingle Ball in New York last December, they enjoyed happier times. It is the last known public concert where they performed together, but it may not be the last time they sang together. "Until someone dialed 911 on Feb. 8 to report a disturbance in a tony neighborhood of Los Angeles, the pop star Rihanna and her R&B-singer boyfriend, Chris Brown, enjoyed relatively wholesome reputations. Attractive and talented, the couple were known as sexy but not oversexed, fun-loving but not reckless. The two seemed unlikely to be involved in anything more shocking than an all-night dance party," according to an Los Angeles Times story.

That image opened the door to a host of commercial endorsements. Brown appeared in ads for Doublemint gum and milk while Rihanna hawked more than a dozen products, including Nike sportswear, Totes umbrellas, Venus razors and Fuze beverages.

Reports about the case have prompted several celebrities to weigh in. Usher at first took issue with images of Chris Brown: "After the other photo [of Rihanna's bruised face posted by TMZ last month]? C'mon, Chris. Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man's on jet skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?" Usher later apologized, saying: "The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved."

Rihanna and Chris Brown have also performed together. On Dec. 12, 2008 they sang at Z100's Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has said that the alleged beating has her so sad that she'll do a show dedicated to dating violence. She had some advice for the couple: "Heal yourself first and also, love doesn't hurt."

The search warrant and affidavit in the case states that the alleged incident started when Rihanna "picked up Brown's cellular phone and observed a three-page text message from a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with." (See full report below.)

The affidavit and search warrants states that an argument ensued and Brown attempted to force Rihanna out of the car" but couldn't because she was wearing a seatbelt. He then "took his right hand and shoved her head against the passenger window....causing an approximate one-inch raised circular contusion."

The report goes on to say that Brown punched Rihanna in the left eye with his right hand. "He then drove away...and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand."

The report says that Rihanna's mouth filled with blood, which splattered "all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle." It goes on to describe an "assault" that included Brown biting Rihanna's fingers and "applying pressure to her carotid arteries" until "she began to lose consciousness."
