UPDATE: The mistletoe drones have arrived in the U.S. A news photographer in Brooklyn claims she was injured by one of the drones. A whirring blade came too close to her face and allegedly nicked her nose. Staff said that no other injuries have occurred with the drones.
If you go on a date to TGI Fridays this holiday season, be prepared to pucker up.
That’s because the restaurant chain is launching mistletoe drones.
The drones are equipped with an HD camera and a sprig of mistletoe. Restaurant workers control where the drone flies. Couples caught on the “kiss cam” smooching under the mistletoe drone will receive a gift certificate.
The restaurant is using the hashtag #Togethermas to document the mistletoe drone campaign.
The holiday-themed drones were introduced at UK locations this week, but a chain spokesperson confirmed to Adweek that the drones will appear at U.S. locations as well.
