UPDATE: The New York Times has reported that Leonard Nimoy has died. He was 83. His wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed his death, saying the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Nimoy of "Star Trek" was hospitalized last week after experiencing severe chest pains, TMZ reported Monday.
Although representatives for Nimoy have not confirmed the report, fire officials told the Los Angeles Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call at the star's Bel-Air home Thursday morning. A spokeswoman for the fire department said one person was hospitalized, but she would not say whether that person was Nimoy.
Nimoy recently tweeted that he has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
