Beyonce may be joining Disney's remake of "The Lion King."

Variety, citing unnamed sources, reported on Thursday hat the superstar is director Jon Favreau's first choice to voice Nala, the childhood friend and later love interest of the film's protagonist, Simba, in the remake.

James Earl Jones and Donald Glover are rumored to have been cast as Simba's father, Mufasa, and Simba, respectively, according to tweets from Favreau in February. Those castings have not been confirmed.

According to Variety, Favreau is willing to do whatever it takes to have Beyonce as part of the film. In February, the singer, who is pregnant with twins, canceled her performance at Coachella in April, citing doctors orders.

Favreau previously directed Disney’s live-action remake of “The Jungle Book.” Disney’s latest remake release is “Beauty and the Beast,” starring Emma Watson.
