Actress Jenny McCarthy began her career as a Playboy magazine model in 1993, before launching a television and film acting career. Most recently, she has written books on parenting issues and has become an activist promoting the awareness of autism, opposing vaccination and promoting New Age beliefs.

Actress Pamela Anderson is best known for her roles on the television series Home Improvement, Baywatch, and V.I.P. She was chosen as a Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine in February 1990.

Holly Madison is an model and television personality, best known for appearing as Hugh Hefner's number one girlfriend with Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson on 'The Girls Next Door.' Although she has never technically been a Playmate. Her most recent work was as a contestant on the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars.

Donna D'Errico was chosen Playboy Playmate of the Month for September 1995. D'Errico's greatest fame is derived from her role on the television series Baywatch.

Actress Shanna Moakler was chosen as a Playmate of the Month for Playboy magazine, in December 2001. Moakler eventually branched out into an acting career, appearing as a regular for two seasons on the USA Network tv series Pacific Blue in 1998, and, in 2005, she starred as herself on MTV's 'Meet the Barkers' with her then husband Travis Barker, drummer in the rock band Blink-182.

In April 1997, Kelly Monaco became the Playboy Playmate of the Month. Monaco's first television role was on the nighttime drama Baywatch from 1997 to 1998. She later became a contestant and winner of Dancing with the Stars in Season 1.

Actress Carmen Electra gained fame for her appearances in Playboy magazine. Later she appeared on a MTV game show and Baywatch. She also played several roles in parody films such as 'Meet the Spartans.'

In 2000, Brande Roderick starred as, "Leigh Dyer," in Baywatch. In April 2000, she appeared in Playboy magazine as Playmate of the Month. In 2001, Roderick became the Playmate of the Year, the first Baywatch cast member to be so honored.

Model Anna Nicole Smith first gained popularity in Playboy, becoming the 1993 Playmate of the Year. She modeled for clothing companies, including Guess jeans and starred in her own reality TV show, The Anna Nicole Show.

In 1960, actress Stella Stevens was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in 1965 and 1968. Stevens was listed among the 100 sexiest stars of the 20th Century. During the 1960s, she was arguably one of the 10 most photographed women in the world, along with Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Ann-Margret and Raquel Welch.

Marilyn Monroe an American actress, singer, model and sex symbol. This first issue is the only issue of Playboy not to have the date on the cover. Hugh Hefner said he was not sure there would be a second issue. Also, this is the only cover that does not have an image of a 'bunny' on the cover.
