The lamb puppet was created by puppeteer Sheri Lewis in 1957 and appeared on "Lamb Chop's Play Along" on PBS until 1997.

Lamb Chop originator Shari Lewis' daughter Mallory took over being the puppeteer for the puppet in 1998.

The puppets on the Comedy Central show "Crank Yankers" brought to life prank calls made by comedians including Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel.

The freckled cowboy puppet was one of the most popular children's characters during his TV run from 1947-1960, along with puppeteer Buffalo Bob Smith.

The robot puppets made out of a variety of household items became famous on the Comedy Central show "Mystery Science Theater 3000" for making fun of bad B-movies.

One of the most popular characters on the PBS show "Sesame Street," Elmo made his debut in the 1970s and has since become a hot toy commodity as Tickle Me Elmo and starred in the films "Elmo In Grouchland" and "Elmo Saves Christmas." He became the center of a scandal when his puppeteer Kevin Clash was accused of sexual misconduct.

Airing from 1947-1957, "Kukla, Fran and Ollie" was a completely ad-libbed show following puppets Kukla and Ollie and their human foil, Fran Allison.

Jim Henson's "Fraggle Rock" produced many memorable puppets, but Red set herself apart with her spunky personality and bright hair.

The hand puppet lived in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe on the PBS show "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood" and other children's shows from the 1950s through 2001. Other inhabitants included Queen Sara, Prince Tuesday and X the Owl.

The puppet who wanted to become a real live boy first popped up as a character in the 1883 book, "The Adventures of Pinocchio," but was made famous in the 1940 Disnet animated film.

The rude, cigar-smoking pup debuted on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" in 1997. Voiced by Robert Smigel, he has taken on the "Real Housewives of Atlanta," Star Wars fans and national politicians.
