The '90s were all about "Friends," with the 1995 kiss between Ross and Rachel being one of the show's classic moment.

Roseanne and Mariel Hemingway shared one of the first same-sex TV kisses in a 1994 episode of the sitcome "Roseanne." ABC initially declined to air the episode, then changed course, snagging 30 million viewers for the episode in the process.

Russian painter Dmitri Vrubel later painted the kiss on a 1.3 km-long original section of the Berlin Wall which became a tourist attraction and was captioned with, "God help me survive this deadly love affair." In 1977, Ruth van Herpen was ordered to pay $1,260 in restoration costs after she kissed a white monochrome painting by Jo Baer at an art museum in England. van Herpen claimed she kissed the “cold” artwork to cheer it up.

In the 1974 film "The Godfather: Part II," Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino), kisses his brother, Fredo (played by John Cazale) before revealing to him that he knows he betrayed him. "I know it was you Fredo," Corleone says to his brother. "You broke my heart."

In what's been called TV's first interracial kiss, Lt. Uhura (played by Nichelle Nichols) kissed Captain James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner) in 1968.

The first interspecies kiss in a movie was shared by chimpanzee psychologist Dr. Zira (played by Kim Hunter), and wounded astronaut George Taylor (played by Charlton Heston) in the 1968 movie "Planet of the Apes." In a 2001 remake of the film, Mark Wahlberg and Helena Bonham Carter also shared a kiss.
