The Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco hosted the ‘Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013’ on Thursday, September 19th.

‘Glamorama’ had a theme this year titled “Fashion in a New Light”. The fundraiser, which also visits Minneapolis, Chicago and Los Angeles, brings together musical performances, new fall fashion designs, and a huge after-party for one evening to raise awareness and funds for long-standing partners AIDS Emergency Fund, Glide Foundation and Project Open Hand.

“Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama is more than a fundraiser and a fashion show; it’s a promise to our communities that Macy’s, along with our generous sponsors, vendors, beneficiaries and supporters, will continue the fight to end an epidemic that has claimed nearly 30 million lives since it began,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Starring in this year’s show was singer, songwriter, record producer and musician Sheryl Crow, known for such hits as “All I Wanna Do” and “Strong Enough.” The well-know troupe Cirque du Soleil also took part and showcase elements from Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at Macy’s Glamorama.

Opening this year’s show was Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star contest winner, The Summer Set, a five-member punk rock group originally formed by two Arizona-based brothers who started out writing tunes inspired by Jimmy Eat World and The Format.

Fall fashion collections featured on the runway include Calvin Klein, Diesel, Rachel Rachel Roy, Tallia Orange, Tommy Hilfiger, Weekend Max Mara, and Macy’s newest Impulse collection Maison Jules. Models’ looks will be completed with make up by MAC Cosmetics.

“This year’s theme Fashion in a New Light showcases fashion through the mystery and magic of illumination, incorporating sophisticated lighting techniques, technology and visual effects to invoke the imagination and provoke the senses,” said Mike Gansmoe, Macy’s Vice President of Special Productions.

Following the show, the evening continued at the After Party at the Asian Art Museum complete with food and drink.

Passport began as an awareness-raising fashion show in Macy’s employee cafeteria in 1982 and has since grown into one of the largest and longest-running HIV/AIDS events of its kind.
