Isn't it cool when actual technology catches up to your favorite movie?

Samsung played to just that idea in this commercial for its smart watch, with the tag line "It's been a long time coming."

And now, legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield has alluded to the next piece of movie tech that you may be able to buy in real life: Marty McFly's self-tying shoes. (Via Universal Pictures / "Back to the Future Part II")

According to Sole Collector, Nike will be releasing the iconic power laces in 2015. Hatfield, who designed some of Nike's most popular shoes, specifically Air Jordans, told Sole Collector in an interview, "Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!"

Now back in 2011, Nike had a surprise release of the Nike MAG shoe, which you may recognize from "Back to the Future II." For the first time, the classic movie footwear was available to the general public. (ViaYouTube / DocEmmettBrown88)

Fifteen hundred pairs of the shoe were auctioned off on eBay with all proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Fox said of the opportunity, "This project is exciting to me because it brings together three very passionate audiences: the Parkinson's community, the sneakerheads and 'Back to the Future' fans." (Via Nice Kicks)

But the one thing Nike's release was missing was the power laces. Now, Hatfield says the wait is over.

Sole Collector doesn't say one way or another whether Hatfield will be releasing the power laces with the "Back to the Future" shoe or with a totally different  design, but as TIME points out, "Who cares? The future is here. Self-tying power laces are here."

Also, for all the "Back to the Future fanatics," you'll remember much of the movie was set in the year 2015. So Nike releasing the shoes next year? Gotta love it.
