Not hip to Spinal Tap? They're the fictional British heavy metal band who were the subject of Rob Reiner's 1984 mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap." The three members of the group are all musically inclined comedians who wrote and performed the music for the film. Harry Shearer played the character Derek Smalls.

Don't call him Lenny. Michael McKean played the role of Spinal Tap frontman David St. Hubbins. And yes, he's also known for being one-half of the duo Lenny & Squiggy, from the 1970s sitcom "Laverne and Shirley."

Harry Shearer, Michael McKean and Christopher Guest created another band in 2003 for another mockumentary called "A Mighty Wind." That time, they portrayed The Folkmen, a fictional folk band. Saturday's show at the Fox featured songs from that band as well.

Shearer, McKean and Guest have toured and recorded albums in the guise of Spinal Tap since that 1984 comedy film. But for this tour, they decided to ditch the in-character wigs and makeup. And presumably to Nigel's disappointment, the band went largely acoustic too.

Spinal Tap have reunited before, in 1992 and 2001 and 2007. They are rumored to be working on a new album.

Where else would you know Harry Shearer's voice? Besides his NPR radio show, Shearer voices many of the characters on "The Simpsons" cartoon, including Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Timothy Lovejoy and Principal Skinner (21 characters in all).
