Maroon 5's 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' world tour rolled into Duluth Wednesday night and entertained 8,000 plus fans at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, as lead singer Adam Levine had the girls swooning. The Hives opened up.

Los Angeles junior high school friends Adam Levine (center, vocals/guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards), and Mickey Madden (bass) spent the latter half of the '90s playing in the modern rock foursome Kara's Flowers. In 1999, after adding guitarist James Valentine and renaming themselves Maroon 5, they changed direction with an infusion of R&B and soul. Recently, Matt Flynn replaced original drummer Ryan Dusick.

Maroon 5's Adam Levine sings the hit 'Makes Me Wonder' Wednesday night at the Gwinnett Arena. The band won its first of two Grammys in 2005 for Best New Artist.

Adam Noah Levine, whose major influences are The Police and The Beatles, was born in Los Angeles on March 18, 1979. Maroon 5's debut album, 'Songs About Jane,' has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Guitarist James Valentine plays the lead on 'If I Never See Your Face Again.'

The Maroon 5 hit 'This Love' became the first single in history to be certified as a platinum download. Adam Levine has been friends with actor Jake Gyllenhaal since kindergarten. In 2005, Levine featured on the Ying Yang Twins song 'Live Again' and also appeared on Kanye West's Late Registration album, on the third single, 'Heard 'Em Say.'

Over the past four years, Maroon 5 performed at Live 8, and has toured with the Rolling Stones, The Police, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, Matchbox Twenty, Sugar Ray, Guster, and The Donnas.

Maroon 5's first single from their second album, 'Makes Me Wonder,' was released to radio March 27, 2007. The song debuted at No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100, the lowest debuting single of the group's five chart entries. In the first week of May, the single skyrocketed from 64th to No. 1, the biggest jump in Billboard history.

Bassist Mickey Madden of Maroon 5. The band proceeds next to Houston, Ft. Worth, Denver, Vancouver, Sacramento, San Jose, L.A., San Diego, and Las Vegas.

Known for their commitment to the environment, Maroon 5 was honored at the 2006 Environmental Media Awards.

Garage rockers The Hives hail from Fagersta, Sweden.

The Hives vocalist Pelle Almqvist is known for his habits of stage diving, climbing amps, executing scissor kicks and nonsensical speech. The band has always worn suits that are solely black and white.

Upcoming concerts at the Arena at Gwinnett Center include Fall Out Boy, The Wiggles, Casting Crowns, Hannah Montana, Avril LaVigne, and The Cure.
