Living blues legends are few these days, and B.B. King is at the head of the pack. From a chair at center stage, King, 85, still coaxes piercing sounds from his guitar as he returns to Chastain Park Amphitheatre Sunday night.

Guitar wizard Buddy Guy smiles for the crowd at Chastain Park Amphitheatre Sunday evening during his opening set before B.B. King's performance. The 74-year-old Guy was one of rock 'n' roll's prime influences and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

The brilliant Chicago blues innovator and electric blues pioneer Buddy Guy is generally credited as one of Jimi Hendrix's prime inspirations. Eric Clapton told Musician magazine in 1985 that "Buddy Guy is by far and without a doubt the best guitar player alive."

The charismatic entertainer was once known as the Beale Street Blues Boy. That's where the B.B. originated. He was born Riley King in Mississippi in 1925.

LUCILLE SOUNDS MIGHTY FINE TONIGHT: Even seated, as he often is in concerts these days, B.B. King is an electrifying presence, accompanied by his trusty guitar Lucille. He performed at Chastain Sunday night along with Buddy Guy.
