Kid Rock performs at Gwinnett Arena

Kid Rock performed to a sold out crowd at Gwinnett Arena Friday, March 4, 2011.

Kid Rock brought his "Born Free Tour" to a sold out audience at the Gwinnett Arena on March 4.

Jamey Johnson opened the Kid Rock show with his hit song "High Cost of Living."

Detroit native Ty Stone opened the show with "Line Of Blood." Stone was working flipping burgers at a hamburger joint in Los Angeles when his friend casually handed a demo tape to Kid Rock at a Detroit Pistons game.

The NAACP announced recently that they'll honor the Detroit native with the organization's Great Expectations award during it's annual Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner for his advocacy for Motor City. The decision has stirred up some controversy because of Kid Rock's use of the Confederate flag on stage and on clothing he wears at concerts. The singer wore no Confederate flag at his Atlanta performance.

...but he did wear a flamboyant fur vest.
