Kenny Chesney rocks Atlanta

Country music star Kenny Chesney put on a powerful show for Atlanta Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at HiFi Buys Amphitheatre. Atlanta's award-winning Sugarland, featuring Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, also performed during the concert. They were scheduled to rock the house again on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.

Country superstar Kenny Chesney brought his Flip Flop Summer Tour 2007 to HiFi Buys Amphitheatre Friday night for the first of two sold out nights. Atlanta's Sugarland and Pat Green were the support acts.

Kenneth Arnold Chesney was born in Knoxville on March 26, 1968.

Kenny Chesney sings "Summertime" at sold out HiFi Buys Amphitheatre on the next to last night of his tour. Dave Mathews and Joe Walsh surprised the packed house toward the end of the show by playing onstage with Kenny.

Chesney's first major hit was "Fall in Love," which reached the Country Top 10 in 1995.

Kenny Chesney attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., where he earned a degree in advertising. Chesney recorded his first album in 1989.

In February 2006, Kenny Chesney was presented with a plaque commemorating his sales of 25 million albums. On May 23, 2006, he was honored at the Academy of Country Music Awards as Entertainer of the Year.

Kenny Chesney co-wrote Rascal Flatts' 2007 single, "Take Me There," which is the lead-off to their upcoming album "Still Feels Good."

Kenny Chesney performs "Keg in the Closet." His most recent single, "Don't Blink," was released in August 2007, setting a new record for the highest ever debut on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

Kenny Chesney met actress Renee Zellweger in January 2005 and married her May 9, 2005, in Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands. It was the first marriage for both. After only four months of marriage, Zellweger filed for an annulment, citing "fraud" as the reason. Chesney and Zellweger said they believed "fraud" was the broadest of the available legal reasons for which annulments could be filed in California.

Atlanta country duo Sugarland, featuring Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, was nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy and performed the song "Something More" at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2006.

Sugarland played frequently at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, which Jennifer Nettles' husband owned for a time. Nettles graduated from Agnes Scott College, and played with Soul Miner's Daughter (the name is an allusion to her father's occupation as a minister). Bush played with Billy Pilgrim.

Sugarland performs "County Line" Friday night on the Southside. The group received multiple CMT Award nominations including Group/Duo Video of the Year for "Just Might (Make Me Believe)," Breakthrough Video of the Year for "Something More," and Collaborative Video of the Year for "Who Says You Can't Go Home."

Texas native Pat Green rocks the house Friday night.
