Keith Sweat has watched Atlanta blossom into a music mecca during the 16 years he has lived here, and the R&B singer has been part of that evolution.

Keith Sweat has watched Atlanta blossom into a music mecca during the 16 years he has lived here, and the R&B singer has been part of that evolution.

Sweat plays pool in his Alpharetta home. Does he have regrets about moving here? "In hindsight, I wish I would have bought up a lot more stuff," he says.

One thing Sweat did buy was a nightclub. Industry opened in June 1996 and closed just three years later.

Sweat has rubbed elbows with some big names in the industry while in the South. He pauses for a photo with Teddy Riley and Jermaine Dupri during a 2006 Grammy party. "Jermaine was just becoming the producer he is now when I got here," Sweat said of his arrival in 1992.

Sweat has been actively involved in supporting charities throughout the city. In December, he attended the Frank Ski Kids Foundation's fourth annual wine tasting and auction at Ski's Dunwoody home.

Last year, Sweat sang at the 50 Million Pound Challenge at Centennial Olympic Park. The weight loss initiative was designed to educate and motivate African-Americans to change their eating habits and lose weight.

Sweat performed during the Recycling Inspiration Weekend in 2005. The event was designed to bring relaxation and inspiration to Hurricane Katrina survivors.
