Etta James performs. The movie 'Cadillac Records' may have introduced James to a new generation of fans, but the feisty blues singer owned her songs and the stage during her nearly hour-long set.

Among those in the audience Wednesday night was former Atlanta Mayor, Congressman and U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young.

The Rev. Al Green, who preaches at a church in Memphis, put his face into his songs.

Green came out strutting and didn't stop moving for the next 90 minutes.

Al Green served it up as as only he can.

Early on in the show, Green stretched out on the stage and pointed his feet to the sky, before jumping up quickly, shouting and singing all the while.

The 10-time Grammy winner with a megawatt smile worked his magic.

Green's band and back up singers -- including his two daughters -- were first-rate.

At times during the show, Green seemed to delight in letting his fans sing his hits.

James started with the blues, mixed in bit of funk (Johnny "Guitar" Watson's "I Want to Ta Ta You Baby") and ended with a playful dig at Beyonce before belting out her classic "At Last."

James sat during her set -- at 71, she's earned that right -- belting out crowd favorites.

Being seated didn't keep Etta James from doing a little dancing.

Beyonce may have performed for President Obama, but Ms. Etta James let it be known that she can more than hold her own with the best of them.

Etta James belted out crowd favorite "I'd Rather Go Blind" with an earthiness that pop singer Beyonce couldn't credibly deliver in the movie.
