Funeral for Pimp C: Loved ones say goodbye

Pimp C of the duo UGK died Tuesday, Dec. 4, in an LA hotel. The funeral was Thursday, Dec. 13.

Rapper Bernard "Bun B" Freeman attended the funeral of his music partner Pimp C, who died last week in L.A. of unknown causes. The two Texas natives were known as the pioneering hip-hop duo UGK.

Several notable artists attended the service on Thursday, Dec. 13, including fellow Texas resident Chamillionaire.

Another notable duo, 8Ball (left) and MJG, paid their respects to UGK, which stands for Underground Kingz.

Former Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett and rapper Slim Thug were at the service for Pimp C, aka Chad Butler, who died in an L.A. hotel bed.

Bishop Magic Don Juan, usually seen with Snoop Dogg, apparently caught the attention of a photo-taking law enforcement officer.

Pimp C had some not-so-nice things to say about Atlanta a few months ago in Ozone magazine. He later talked to Atlanta's own Hot 107.9 FM station to explain.

UGK hit the mainstream with their cameo on Jay-Z's single "Big Pimpin'." Though the duo never enjoyed massive crossover chart success, their 1996 CD "Ridin' Dirty" is considered a rap classic.

UGK recently won a Best Collaboration BET Hip-hop Award for "Int'l Player's Anthem (I Choose You)," with Atlanta's own super duo OutKast.

Director Brian Barber (pictured with model Melissa Ford), was out and about during the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta. He directed the video featuring UGK and OutKast.

UGK has other Atlanta connections as well. Rapper T.I. recorded his single "Front Back" with the duo.
