Former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland has died at 48.
He was found dead in his sleep Thursday in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band, Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts, according to a statement.
A cause of death was not immediately known.
His friend and frequent collaborator Dave Navarro said on Twitter, "Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight."

Weiland helped start what eventually became the Stone Temple Pilots in the '80s, and the band reached high popularity in 1992 after releasing the album "Core."
Other hits include "Interstate Love Song" and "Vasoline."
The Wildabouts released an album, "Blaster," in March, according to Pitchfork.
Weiland was also a member of the band Velvet Revolver along with icons Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner.
He had substance abuse issues and arrests in the past, though it is unclear whether drugs were a factor in his death. In a statement earlier this year, Weiland maintained that he hadn't used heroin in 13 years.
He leaves behind a wife, Jamie Weiland.
