A spokesman confirmed rap artist King Louie was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon on Chicago's Southwest side.
Louis Johnson Jr. (the rapper's real name) was shot while sitting in a vehicle, police said.
A local television station reported the rapper was grazed by the bullet.
Johnson's spokesman said the rapper was "awake and talking," according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
King Louie is credited with the term “Chiraq” more than six years ago, but he apparently wasn’t crazy about Spike Lee, who released a film by that name earlier this month. On the same day the film was released, King Louie released a song that cursed Spike Lee in the title.
