Stoner comedy icons Cheech & Chong brought their "Light Up America and Canada Tour" to the Tabernacle Friday night. Actress Shelby Chong, Tommy Chong's wife, opened the show.

Richard 'Cheech' Marin and Tommy Chong enjoyed a wide following in the 1970s and '80s with their dope-smoker send-ups in movies and standup routines. They began developing separate careers in the late 1980s. This is their first tour together in 25 years.

Cheech & Chong began their Tabernacle show with a skit about picking up a hitchhicker. The first of two shows was a sell-out.

Playing on their drug-culture paradoies of the '70s and '80s, Cheech & Chong simulate passing a joint in a car.

Comedian and actress Shelby Chong, Tommy Chong's wife, opens the show. She was associate producer on four of the Cheech & Chong movies.

Rome resident Jim Johnston dressed up for the concert, which featured skits and musical interludes.

There was plenty of '70s style merchandise for sale.
