Atlanta-based Sevendust plays the Tabernacle

Industrial metal and Atlanta-based Sevendust rocked the nearly full Tabernacle Saturday night on their 'Ladies Get Out Of Jail Free Tour.' Dynamic frontman Lajon Witherspoon (pictured) headlined the show, which also featured 10 Years, Black Light Burns and Neverset.

Sevendust's Lajon Witherspoon, John Connolly (guitar), Clint Lowery (replaced by Sonny Mayo on guitar), Vinnie Hornsby (bass), and Morgan Rose (drums) started playing together in 1995 as Crawlspace, releasing the single 'My Ruin' on the Mortal Kombat: More Kombat soundtrack album. After a West Coast group claimed rights to Crawlspace, the band changed their name to Sevendust, releasing their self-titled debut in 1997 on TVT Records.

Sevendust guitarist John Connolly riffs on 'Crucified' Saturday night at the Tabernacle. The band's name is credited to bassist Vinnie Hornsby, who was looking through his grandmother's garage and found a can of plant pesticide called 'Sevin dust.' Vocalist Witherspoon's take on the name is that seven is a holy number and we are all made of dust. Their name has also been associated with the computer virus of the same name.

Sevendust fans show their support for the hometown quintet, who wrapped up their tour in support of their latest studio album, titled Alpha. The record was recorded locally at Tree Sound Studios.

Lajon Witherspoon was born in Nashville on Oct. 3, 1972. Known for being one of a few African-American singers in modern rock music, members from such bands as Staind, Seether and Diecast have listed Lajon and Sevendust as musical influences.

Sevendust plays its hit 'Denial' Saturday night. The band members are WWE fans and watch wrestling whenever they can. Their song 'Enemy' was used as the official theme song for WWE Unforgiven 2003, and they also covered the theme song of Chris Jericho on the album, WWF Forceable Entry.

Morgan Rose, born Dec. 13, 1968, pounds the skins on the Sevendust song 'Pieces' downtown Saturday night. He is one of the most respected and innovative drummers in the industry, being voted by Drum Magazine and Drummerworld as one of the top 100 drummers of all time. Since divorcing fellow musician Rayna Foss (former bassist for Coal Chamber), Morgan has since married Ex-Price Is Right model Teri Harrison.

Sevendust fans at the Tabernacle. Sevendust contributed the song 'Fall' to the Scream 3 soundtrack. It was announced on the band's Web site that Retrospective 2 would be released on Dec. 11, 2007. Retrospective 2 is a CD/DVD combo including three previously un-released studio tracks, live concert and backstage footage never before seen, as well as the new music video for the song 'Beg To Differ.'

In early 2002, Sevendust teamed up with other artists to place several items of autographed memorabilia up for auction on eBay. Proceeds from the sale benefited the family of Cameron Gallion, a 14-year-old Sevendust fan who died from cancer in February 2002. Gallion appeared in the 'Praise' video and was a good friend of the band.

Bassist Vinnie Hornsby was born Oct. 22, 1967, and is the oldest member of Sevendust. The band recorded a cover of 'Back to Cali' by LL Cool J for the album Take a Bite Outta Rhyme: A Rock Tribute to Rap.

Hard rockers 10 Years formed in 2000 in Knoxville. The current lineup consists of vocalist Jesse Hasek, guitarists Ryan 'Tater' Johnson and Matt Wantland, bassist Lewis 'Big Lew' Cosby and drummer Brian Vodinh.
