A Minnesota teen is using the hype around "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to help a good cause.

Alex Hout invited his friends and classmates to join him at a local theater to watch the latest installment of the "Star Wars" franchise. The movie ticket would cost the guests nothing, but there is a catch, KMSP reported.

Alex is asking everyone who comes to see the film to bring a donation of toys.

"Around the holidays, it's always a good feeling to give something," Alex said. "It's good to give to people - all the families who aren't as fortunate as we are."

With the help of his older brother and his parents, the high school senior spent $1,200 on 97 tickets.

As to why he did it, Hout told KMSP that being a force for good is part of being a "Star Wars" fan.
